An altogether unsatisfactory arrangement After their father's death, Miss Judith Taverner and her brother Peregrine travel to London to meet their guardian, Lord Worth, expecting an elderly gentleman. I absolutely adore Georgette Heyer. Anyone else out there who shares this opinion?

What are your favourite books?
Mine include, "Cottilion", "Grand Sophy", "Regency Buck", and "These Old Shades".

I used to devour her books! After her, I couldn't read any other Regency romances, as her knowledge of the period is unsurpassed. Even if her plots were predictable, I loved her heroes, heroines, minor characters; her wit and style was second to none, and she painted such vivid pictures of the past that I actually lived there for a short time. (We won't mention the Mistress, Jane Austen, as she was the best of them all!)

My favourites were the 18th century `romances; "Beauvallet", "Simon the Coldheart"; then the later Regency books like "A Civil Contract", "Venetia"; and, of course, "Regency Buck". "The Talisman Ring" was great fun. I can't honestly say I disliked any of them - it just depended on what mood I was in whether I wanted to read something more swashbuckling or something more mannered.

Heyer only got one date wrong; I think it was the date of the founding of White's club, as she was abroad at the time.
