What is your favorite Georgette Heyer novel?

or list them in order of favorites. Also favorite lines.

I loved all of them. Depending on what mood I was in, I'd love the 18th century romances like The Black Moth, These Old Shades and so on. For a bit of adventure, Beauvallet was an engaging read. I loved her later Regency romances with more mature characters and a more autumnal tone, but it was also good to read lighter confections like Arabella.

Perhaps my favourites (at this moment!) would be The Talisman Ring, A Civil Contract, Venetia and Regency Buck. Ask me tomorrow, and I'd probably cite some others!

I can't remember any specific lines as such, but I do remember laughing out loud at some of her hilarious scenes, like the drunk young men finding themselves in somebody else's house and thinking it was their own; and the scene in, I think, Regency Buck, where an aristocratic lady has the habit of voicing her thoughts out loud.

Looking at Barnet you will find that it was a town that has been around since the 18th Century. Well known through writings by Georgette Heyer, who used the setting for her romance novels. A wonderful and historical location, which she shows well in her stories if you get a chance to read them.Â

The modern area of Barnet is a small town that has a lot to offer a visitor. The location of famous studies Elstree and Borehamwood. Some movies that were filmed at Borehamwood that you may have heard of include Where Eagles Dare, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and Mr. Chips. But there are many more that have been filmed there. Elstree was recently the location of where the British "Who wants to be a millionaire" was taped.

The top historical site in the area would be Wrotham Park, located on 2, 500 acres; this 300 acre manor is a beautiful testament to the loveliness of the area. Though you will not be able to go inside since it's not open to the public, it's fascinating to see from the outside. Â

Opening itself to more of a multicultural theme with the food business of Flavor of Spain, known as Sabor de Espana. One of the top businesses in the area, they sell many fine Spanish food items. Â

You will also find Cricket and Soccer in the area, where the Barnet B's, the cricket team, and the Borehamwood football club are homed.

Also the locale of the Arkley Poor Clares, this is a wonderful thing in the area. A place where terminally ill and poor are assisted in the area. A fantastic idea that was based on the Franciscans. Â
